The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in partnership with the Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project, has launched a one-day community sensitisation programme to promote pharmacovigilance at the grassroots.

The event, titled “Grassroots Community Sensitisation on Pharmacovigilance,” focused on raising public awareness about the safe use of medicines, encouraging the rational use of drugs, and promoting the reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFIs) through the malaria IMPACT project.

Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of NAFDAC, the Director of Pharmacovigilance, Dr. (Mrs.) Uchenna Elemuwa, highlighted the critical role of vigilance in medicine safety. She urged the public to promptly report any ADRs or AEFIs using available channels such as the Med Safety App, NAFDAC Green Book, and e-reporting forms.
