Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements across Borno State, recording significant operational gains, including terrorist surrenders, neutralisation of fighters and the destruction of key enclaves.
In a statement signed by Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI Lieut. Col. Sani Uba said under Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained military pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026 compelled 11 terrorist fighters to surrender, along with their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.

A day earlier, on 9 January 2026, troops conducted extensive clearance operations within the Bulaagalda cluster, dismantling several active terrorist camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile. Among the locations destroyed were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. The operation disrupted terrorist life-support systems, degraded logistics networks and led to the recovery of terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.

Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced fleeing terrorists to abandon additional logistics facilities, which were subsequently destroyed. Troops also recovered weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun during the operations.
In a related intelligence-led engagement between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, troops neutralised eight JAS/ISWAP fighters and recovered AK-47 rifles. Additionally, two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying materials to terrorist groups.
The military authorities reaffirmed that troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East region.
