The Kano Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dismantled multiple drug distribution points in Gezawa community, arresting 19 suspects and seizing a significant quantity of illicit substances in an operation codenamed “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”
The enforcement action was carried out under the leadership of Commander DY Lawal, following credible intelligence from a community source. Operatives raided identified locations in Gezawa and recovered assorted narcotics and controlled substances, now secured as exhibits pending further investigation.
Items seized include cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, a street substance popularly known as “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, pregabalin tablets and other regulated drugs.
Commander Lawal said the operation was designed to safeguard public health and ensure a peaceful observance of Ramadan. “Our objective is to keep our streets safe and enable residents to observe Ramadan without the disruption of drug-related activities. We will continue to act decisively against individuals who endanger public health and community safety,” he stated, while commending citizens who provided actionable intelligence.
The crackdown aligns with the directive of the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, who has mandated sustained nationwide efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
The Kano Strategic Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive enforcement, intelligence-driven operations and community collaboration aimed at dismantling drug supply networks and prosecuting offenders.
Authorities have urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and drug-related offences, noting that timely and accurate information remains critical to protecting families and maintaining neighbourhood security.
