The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally arraigned Aisha Alkali Wakil, also known as “Mama Boko Haram,” in conjunction with Tahiru Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode before Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court. This arraignment follows allegations of conspiracy and fraudulent activities amounting to N150,000,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira).
The charges against the trio revolve around an incident in August 2018 when Aisha Alkali Wakil, Tahiru Saidu Daura, and Prince Lawal Shoyode, respectively serving as Chief Executive Officer, Programme Manager, and Country Director of the Complete Care and Aid Foundation, a non-governmental organization, along with Saidu Mukhtar, who remains at large, are accused of inducing Alhaji Bulama Bakki, the CEO of Bakki Commodity Investment Company Limited, and Ngumati Investment Company Limited, under false pretenses.
The alleged misrepresentation involved the execution of a contract for the supply of 5,000 bags of high-quality white beans, each weighing 50 kilograms and priced at N23,000 per bag. Additionally, they purported to provide seven units of mobile ultra-scanning machines powered by solar energy, all of the 2018 brand, at a rate of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira) each. The cumulative value of these deceitful transactions reached a staggering N150,000,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira).
The defendants, upon hearing the charges, entered pleas of ‘not guilty.’
The prosecution team, led by A.I Arogha and S.O Saka, requested a trial date from the court. Justice Fadawu subsequently scheduled the matter for further proceedings and ordered that the defendants be remanded in a Correctional Center.
