Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect, citing the need for strategic political realignment.
In a statement, Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the party’s National Leader and flag bearer in the 2023 general elections, describing his exit as a difficult but necessary decision.
He said the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape informed his decision to align with another platform that offers greater prospects for achieving meaningful national change.
Kwankwaso commended the party’s leadership, particularly the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, as well as members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee, for their support during his tenure.
He also acknowledged the contributions of party leaders at ward and state levels, alongside members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, for their commitment to the party’s ideals.
Despite his departure, the former governor expressed optimism about continued collaboration with stakeholders across political divides in pursuit of a more prosperous Nigeria.
