The Delta State Police Command has arrested several suspects and recovered firearms, illicit drugs, and dangerous weapons during coordinated operations across the state.
Police authorities said the intelligence-led operations, carried out between April 4 and 5, 2026, targeted criminal hideouts in multiple locations, resulting in significant breakthroughs in the fight against cultism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
In one operation, operatives of the Raiders Unit raided a suspected hideout in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect, Henry Obi, who allegedly confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity. A search of the premises led to the recovery of an English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition, as well as quantities of suspected illicit drugs concealed within a standing air conditioner.
In a separate operation on April 5, operatives of the Buffalo Team, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, carried out a raid at Hausa Market near the Customs checkpoint along the Benin–Asaba Expressway. The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects aged between 16 and 21.
Items recovered during the raid included large quantities of suspected illicit drugs—such as Colorado, Canadian Loud, substances believed to be Indian hemp, Tramadol, and Swinol—along with two locally fabricated battle axes and a sum of ₦144,000.
All suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, describing the operations as critical to ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
