The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has expressed appreciation to the Bunu Progressive Forum for organising a homecoming reception in his honour held in Kabba, Kogi State, on April 3, 2026.
In a statement by National PRO / Head, Corporate Services Federal Fire Service Headquarters DCF P.O. Abraham , the CG commended the forum for the elaborate ceremony, noting that it reflected unity, support, and collective commitment to national development and public safety.
He also acknowledged the presence of dignitaries at the event, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo.
The Controller-General expressed gratitude to the Obaro of Kabba, Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his royal blessings, as well as to other traditional rulers present, including the Elulu of Mopa, Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi.
He also appreciated the presence of political and community leaders, including the National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Durosinmi Meseko, and other eminent personalities.
Olumode said the event was organised not only to celebrate his appointment but also to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the leadership of the Federal Fire Service, as well as the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his support to the service.
He described the reception as a demonstration of solidarity and shared responsibility toward strengthening public safety institutions in the country.
Responding to public concerns arising from a viral video showing a large convoy during the visit, the Federal Fire Service clarified that the Controller-General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot car, and essential security support.
According to the service, the additional vehicles seen were those of Deputy Controllers-General, Assistant Controllers-General, and other senior officers who attended the event as part of the management team.
It explained that their presence was necessary for coordination, security coverage, and participation in the high-level engagement.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public communication, stressing that all official movements are guided by operational necessity and established protocols.
The Controller-General again thanked the Bunu Progressive Forum and the people of Kabba for the warm reception and honour extended to him.
