The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a precision air operation that destroyed a suspected terrorist hideout linked to a militant commander, Abasu Aiki, in Katsina State.
According to a statement by the service, the strike was executed by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 on May 1, targeting a terrorist enclave located within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area.
The operation followed what military authorities described as sustained credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist mobilisation in the area.
Intelligence reports indicated that the location served as a logistics base and transit point for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki, a suspected commander linked to repeated attacks on communities and security personnel across the Faskari, Kankara and Funtua corridors of Katsina State.
Acting on this information, Nigerian Air Force assets reportedly identified armed militants on motorcycles within the enclave and carried out a coordinated precision strike on both personnel and their support infrastructure.
Post-strike Battle Damage Assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised, while the logistics facility and surrounding structures were destroyed, triggering explosions and extensive fires.
Military authorities said the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist mobility and resupply operations in the area.
The Air Force added that the mission reflects its continued commitment to denying terrorist groups safe havens and supporting broader counterinsurgency efforts aimed at restoring stability in the North-West region.
Director of Public Relations and Information at the Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, stated that the operation underscores the military’s resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and sustain pressure on armed groups operating in the region.
