In a diplomatic session at the State House on Friday, President Bola Tinubu engaged with foreign envoys, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to foreign investment and trade expansion. The President received Letters of Credence from Lorand Endreffy, the Ambassador of Hungary; Christophe Bazivamo, the High Commissioner of Rwanda; and Ivan Kholostenko, the Ambassador of Ukraine.
Addressing concerns raised by the High Commissioner of Rwanda regarding fund repatriation, President Tinubu assured foreign investors of a diligent and predictable process for fund release. He underscored the commitment to addressing issues of double taxation, assuring that the tax system would be streamlined to favor business growth.
President Tinubu expressed a pan-African perspective, stating, “We are one family on the continent. We will continue to promote democracy and good governance.” He reinforced an open-door policy and highlighted the availability of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chief of Staff to address diplomatic matters.
During discussions with the Rwandan High Commissioner, the President welcomed the commitment of the Rwandan government to enhance bilateral relations with Nigeria. He acknowledged new visa policies and trade agreements as potential avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation.
In a separate engagement with the Ambassador of Hungary, President Tinubu urged exploration of partnership opportunities, particularly in agriculture, food security, and technology. He expressed gratitude for Hungary’s care of Nigerian students and emphasized the nation’s readiness to strengthen ties in crucial sectors.
The Hungarian Ambassador commended President Tinubu for strategic decisions aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy. Areas of collaboration discussed included education, agriculture, food security, security, and medical technology, reflecting a commitment to mutual respect and cooperation.
Lastly, in a conversation with the Ukrainian Ambassador, President Tinubu pledged Nigeria’s support for global peace and harmony. He expressed solidarity through prayers and reiterated the nation’s commitment to endorsing good governance and democracy.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, conveyed the President’s reassurances and the positive exchange of ideas during the diplomatic engagements.
