In a collaborative effort, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Sokoto State Ministry for Women and Children Affairs have initiated a groundbreaking program to enhance the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their households in Sokoto.

The USAID’s Integrated Child Health and Social Services Award activity will see an investment of over 7.8 million Naira directed towards 519 carefully selected beneficiaries. This financial support, coupled with the distribution of ‘start-up kits,’ is poised to serve as a catalyst for empowerment and economic upliftment.

The primary focus of the initiative is to bolster household economic resilience, particularly among vulnerable families, through targeted cash transfers. The distribution of ‘start-up kits’ will extend to 20 graduates of vocational skills training programs, emphasizing a holistic approach to community development.
