 Abducted Akwa Ibom Judge regains freedom

In a positive turn of events, Justice Joy Unwana, the abducted Judge of the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary, has been successfully freed following her abduction on Monday night.

In a statement released by Comrade Ini Ememobong, the Honourable Commissioner for Information in Akwa Ibom State, the government reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the security of the state and its residents. The incident involving Justice Joy Unwana is set to be thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrators will face justice.

Welcoming the released Judge at the Government House in Uyo, Governor Umo Eno expressed profound gratitude to God for her safe release. He commended the swift response and dedication of security agencies involved in the operation, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring that the state remains an inhospitable environment for criminal activities. The Governor called upon security operatives to intensify their surveillance efforts to maintain public safety.

Governor Eno specifically acknowledged the Ministry of Internal Security for their effective coordination and utilization of local intelligence in addressing security concerns. Despite the regrettable inconvenience suffered by Justice Unwana during her time in captivity, the Governor assured citizens that such incidents were isolated and would be decisively addressed.

During the debriefing session, the Governor extended his sympathies to Justice Unwana for the distressing experience she endured while in captivity. He assured her that divine compensation awaited her for the ordeal, emphasizing that justice would be served swiftly.

Justice Joy Unwana, visibly grateful for the Governor’s concern and rescue efforts, shared the harrowing details of her captivity. She fervently prayed that no one else would have to endure such a dreadful experience.

The debriefing session was attended by high-ranking officials, including Commissioner for Internal Security, Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd.), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom SAN, and Chief Assam Assam SAN.
