Again, NNPC Ltd cautions against panic buying

  • Says 30-days PMS sufficiency intact

As the nationwide supply and distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, continues to demonstrate enhancement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited reiterates its appeal to motorists to refrain from engaging in panic buying of the product.

Mr. Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, based in Abuja, communicated that upon monitoring various filling stations across several states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), observable reductions in queues have been noted. This trend is anticipated to progressively ameliorate across other states in the coming days.

The Company emphasizes that its current stockpile of PMS exceeds 1.5 billion litres, ensuring a sufficiency of over 30 days. Furthermore, NNPC Ltd. is actively collaborating with pertinent downstream entities such as the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), labor unions within the sector, and law enforcement agencies to combat hoarding and other illicit practices.
