In a meticulously planned and seamlessly executed joint operation, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji, in collaboration with the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, successfully neutralized a terrorist enclave and eradicated their stronghold situated on Tora Hills in the Safana Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State on 30th January 2024.
The operation, initiated with precision airstrikes by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft, effectively degraded the terrorists’ capabilities. Subsequently, ground troops from the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army swiftly executed a mop-up operation, capturing fleeing terrorists.
Battle Damage Assessment footages and reports from various sources affirmed that the air strikes significantly weakened the terrorist forces, facilitating a smooth clearance operation by the Army’s 17 Brigade. This collaborative effort not only resulted in the neutralization of numerous terrorists but also led to the complete destruction of their hideouts on Tora Hills.
The strategic success of the joint operation enabled the ground troops to ascend Tsora Hill, a key location previously exploited by terrorists as a hiding place in Safana LGA. The elimination of this terrorist enclave marks a significant triumph for the security forces in their ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism from the region.
Edward Gabkwet, Air Vice Marshal and Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, commended the seamless coordination between the Air Component and ground forces.
