In a proactive move aimed at bolstering their understanding of security operations and strategies, participants of Air War College Nigeria Course 10/2024 embarked on a study tour to the theatre of operations within the country. As part of their itinerary, they visited the Special Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) to glean insights into tackling prevailing security challenges.
Led by General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, the participants were welcomed at Headquarters 3 Division NA. General Abubakar underscored OPSH’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and upholding law and order in its jurisdiction, reinforcing civil authority.
The theme of the study tour, “Armed Banditry and Human Security: Plateau State in Perspective,” resonated with the challenges faced on the ground, offering valuable perspectives for the participants. General Abubakar emphasized the need for a people-centric approach in addressing security concerns, highlighting the indispensable role of community engagement.
Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde, representing the team leader, expressed concern over the escalating attacks and reprisals in the state. Cautioning against the proliferation of arms, he advocated for concerted efforts to mitigate criminal activities, urging increased leadership engagement to restore normalcy.
Wing Commander AA Kotti conveyed gratitude on behalf of the participants, acknowledging the enriching experience gained during the visit. He affirmed the commitment to apply the acquired knowledge, both kinetic and non-kinetic, for the benefit of the college and future research endeavors.
Key highlights of the visit included a comprehensive briefing on OPSH activities, interactive sessions, exchange of souvenirs, and a memorable group photograph, encapsulating the collaborative spirit fostered during the engagement.
