APC NEC backs Tinubu as President pledges greater commitment to Nigeria’s prosperity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s economic recovery and national development, following a vote of confidence from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) at its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, addressing party leaders, Tinubu described the endorsement as a call for greater dedication, pledging to accelerate efforts in food security, investment, and economic stability. He highlighted the steady decline in food prices and a gradual return to economic stability, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s growth.

“I accept your vote of confidence as a challenge to work even harder. We will vigorously pursue our goals in food security, investment, and national development,” Tinubu said.

The President commended APC governors, legislators, and party executives for their support, emphasizing the need for unity within the party. He called for committees to resolve internal disputes in various states to strengthen the party’s cohesion.

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, acknowledged the challenges faced by the ruling party but assured members of its commitment to delivering on electoral promises. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas also reaffirmed the National Assembly’s support for Tinubu’s administration, pledging to pass legislation that would drive economic growth and national development.

The NEC meeting followed a party caucus gathering where leaders praised the administration’s economic turnaround, citing a 3.84% GDP growth in the last quarter of 2024 and a downward trend in inflation.
