Army neutralises criminal networks, rescues nine victims in nationwide operations

The Nigerian Army has intensified its counter-terrorism and anti-crime operations across multiple theatres, arresting 20 suspects, rescuing nine kidnapped victims and recovering arms and logistics in coordinated raids conducted within a 24-hour period.

The operations, which spanned the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions, targeted suspected terrorist enclaves and criminal hideouts, significantly disrupting logistics networks and restricting the activities of armed groups.

In the North-East, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade carried out a precision cordon-and-search operation in Ngurosoye Village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. Acting on credible intelligence, the soldiers arrested 14 suspects, including individuals reportedly linked to a known kidnapper identified as Baba Ali. Items recovered during the raid included materials suspected to be used in the production of improvised explosive devices.

In a related operation within Marte Local Government Area, a joint force engaged fleeing insurgents, who abandoned bicycles and other supplies while escaping from advancing troops.

In the North-West, personnel of the 4 Demo Battalion and 2 Battalion conducted operations in Kaduna State, disrupting criminal activities in Pan Daudu and Kuyello communities. The troops intercepted suspected cattle rustlers and armed groups, recovering 96 rustled livestock.

Further engagements at Lahin Dan Auta led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families, underscoring the military’s rapid response capability.

Meanwhile, in the North-Central region, troops under Sector 1 of Operation WHIRL STROKE carried out targeted operations in Benue State. A raid in Gwer West Local Government Area resulted in the rescue of six victims and the arrest of a suspected human trafficker.

In a separate patrol in Guma Local Government Area, soldiers apprehended three suspected terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information.
