In a coordinated series of operations aimed at countering terrorist activities, military forces deployed in Zamfara and Katsina States have effectively thwarted attempts by insurgents to perpetrate kidnappings while ensuring the safety of civilians.
Responding to a distress call in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops intervened during an attack on farmers by terrorists along the Gidan Shaho Road. Upon the arrival of the troops, the terrorists, upon realizing their presence, abandoned their attempt to abduct civilians and fled the scene. Subsequently, the troops successfully rescued the victims, who had sustained gunshot wounds, and promptly evacuated them to the General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
In a separate incident within the Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, security forces swiftly responded to a reported kidnapping along the Fangaltama-Mayanchi Road. Pursuing the fleeing extremists, the troops engaged them in a confrontation, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists while the remaining perpetrators fled.
Additionally, five commuters were rescued during this operation, and significant weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, 8 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, and two mobile phones, were recovered from the terrorists.
Further bolstering the efforts against terrorism, a joint clearance operation involving security forces and the Katsina State Civilian Joint Task Force targeted suspected terrorist hideouts in Shawu, Dugun Fakwu, and Tafki Villages within the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation led to the destruction of these hideouts and the recovery of a fabricated gun along with other dangerous weapons.
These decisive and swift actions by the military underscore their unwavering dedication to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the affected communities.
