Barau foundation announces beneficiaries of foreign scholarships in tech fields

The Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), established by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator (Dr) Barau I Jibrin, CON, has released the list of the first batch of beneficiaries for its 2024 foreign postgraduate scholarships in artificial intelligence, robotics technology, cybersecurity, and forensic science.

Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, founded the BIJF to support humanitarian, educational, and empowerment initiatives in Nigeria.

According to Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to Senator Barau on Media and Publicity, the foundation has secured admissions for selected students from the three Senatorial Districts of Kano State—Kano Central, Kano North, and Kano South—to pursue postgraduate programs abroad.

The scholarship program is part of the Deputy President of the Senate’s efforts to promote academic excellence and advance Nigeria’s technological development. Mudashir noted that the scholarships are specifically focused on fields like artificial intelligence, robotics technology, cybersecurity, and forensic science, aligning with Senator Barau’s goal of addressing the shortage of experts in these specialized areas.

“The scholarship program is limited to these fields in line with the Deputy President of the Senate’s goal to contribute to addressing the shortage of experts in these specialized fields,” Mudashir said.

Admission letters will be distributed to the beneficiaries on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at the Amani Event Centre in Kano State.

The Barau I Jibrin Foundation continues to play a crucial role in empowering the youth through education, equipping them with the skills needed to drive technological innovation in Nigeria.
