A Boko Haram terrorist has surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, handing over an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb and a mobile phone.
In a statement, Acting Military Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI Maiduguri Captain Mohammed Goni said the surrender, which occurred at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, is the latest indication of the sustained military pressure being exerted on terrorist networks operating across the North-East.
According to the Theatre Command, the surrendered terrorist had previously operated around the Mandara Mountains axis, an area associated with terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
Troops recovered one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and one mobile phone from the former fighter at the point of surrender.
The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in line with established military procedures.
The Theatre Command said the development further demonstrated the impact of sustained military operations on terrorist networks, particularly their diminishing freedom of movement and operational capacity across the theatre.
It added that the surrender also reflected the military’s ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities while creating opportunities for those still bearing arms to abandon violence and embrace peace.
Operation HADIN KAI, the command said, would continue to maintain pressure on terrorist elements, disrupt their activities and deny them the freedom of action required to sustain their operations.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to creating the conditions necessary for lasting peace and stability across Borno State and the wider North-East region.
