Bridge Collapse: FRSC diverts traffic on Katsina–Batsari road

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported the collapse of a bridge on the Katsina–Batsari route, located a few meters past Salbak Filling Station near Shagari Lowcost. The incident occurred following heavy rainfall on the night of Saturday, 9 August 2025.

According to a statement issued by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the State Sector Commander, CC Maxwell Lede, conducted an on-site assessment on Sunday and confirmed that the damaged section has been closed to traffic. FRSC personnel have cordoned off the area to ensure the safety of road users.

In the meantime, motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:

  • Katsina to Batsari: Ring Road via Al-Qalam University.

  • Batsari to Katsina: Army Barracks–Jibia Road.

The Corps cautioned drivers to avoid the collapsed bridge site, especially during nighttime or in rainy conditions when visibility is poor, to prevent accidents.

The FRSC further urged media outlets to amplify the advisory, stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
