The forthcoming International Financial Inclusion Conference, known as #IFIC2023, is Nigeria’s premier event in the realm of financial inclusion, and its second edition is set to take place on October 5 and 6, 2023, at the prestigious Landmark Event Center in Lagos. The conference is themed “Financial Inclusion for All: Global Insights for Local Impact.”

This remarkable event, hosted by the Central Bank of Nigeria in collaboration with partner agencies within the National Financial Inclusion Governance Committees, serves as a pivotal platform for eminent thought leaders, regulators, and various stakeholders from around the world to convene and deliberate on contemporary strategies aimed at expediting financial inclusion not only in Africa but also on a global scale.

In a statement, Mr. Isa AbdulMumin, the Director of Corporate Communications at the Central Bank of Nigeria, revealed that the conference boasts an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, including luminaries such as Dr. Chea Serey, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia; Dr. Alfred Hannig, the Executive Director of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion; and Dr. Reza Baqir, the former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. The conference will delve into key topics such as fintech-driven solutions for reaching underserved populations, the utilization of big data and artificial intelligence, innovative financial products (particularly in non-interest finance), harnessing payment systems to extend financial inclusion to marginalized groups, including women, rural communities, youth, and MSMEs, as well as discussions on consumer protection, fraud prevention, and data privacy.

Exciting highlights of the conference encompass Innovation Labs, the presentation of Financial Inclusion Awards, and a host of other side events. These present unique opportunities to showcase Nigeria as an attractive investment destination that can foster economic growth, not only within Nigeria but also in the broader sub-region.

Reflecting on the inaugural edition of IFIC held at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja in 2022, the event witnessed a strong turnout of senior government officials from both within and outside Nigeria. Distinguished guests included former President Muhammadu Buhari, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, select Federal Republic of Nigeria Ministers, and prominent figures within the global financial inclusion sphere. The conference drew over 5,000 participants from a staggering 78 countries, garnering overwhelmingly positive feedback. As a result, anticipation for the 2023 edition has been building steadily.

IFIC 2023 promises to be a captivating and enlightening platform for networking, offering a diverse and vibrant Whova community to engage with. Attendees can look forward to a diverse array of offerings that will enrich their in-person and/or virtual experiences.
