General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), recently conducted a routine operational visit to the Niger Delta Region (NDR), making a notable stop at the Headquarters of the 6 Division. During his visit, he commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the dedicated personnel of the Division for their remarkable achievements thus far.
Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma provided these highlights. He said this commendation came during his interactions with officers stationed at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks.
Expressing his satisfaction with the progress observed at Port Harcourt Barracks, General Musa praised the level of commitment demonstrated by the personnel, citing it as a testament to their dedication to both the nation and the Nigerian Army (NA). He emphasized the need for continued efforts, stressing the imperative of curbing criminal activities that adversely affect the nation’s economy.

Highlighting the mandate entrusted to the Armed Forces of Nigeria under his leadership, General Musa reiterated the importance of providing security and enhancing oil production, as directed by the President and Commander-in-Chief. He urged troops to execute their responsibilities diligently while respecting the diverse traditions, cultures, and religions of the people they serve. While commending the troops for their exemplary performance, he cautioned against complacency, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of negligence.
Earlier in the visit, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the GOC and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), expressed gratitude to the CDS for his presence. He reaffirmed the commitment of officers and soldiers of the Division to safeguarding critical national infrastructure for the nation’s benefit. Major General Abdussalam assured continued professional conduct aligned with the mandate of OPDS in the NDR.

During his visit, General Musa inaugurated the newly reconstructed main entrance to Port Harcourt Barracks and the officers’ transit accommodation at the officers’ quarters, commending the significant infrastructural developments witnessed in the barracks in recent months.
Key moments of the visit included an operational briefing to the CDS, interactive sessions with field commanders of OPDS, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
