CoAS hails troops in Ogoja, pledges better welfare and operational support

The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has commended the officers and soldiers of the 130 Battalion and 341 Artillery Regiment in Ogoja for their resilience and steadfast commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s security.

The Army Chief gave the commendation on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, during an operational visit to Godwin Ally Barracks, Ogoja, as part of his assessment tour of formations and units under the 82 Division Area of Operational Responsibility.

During the visit, General Oluyede inspected facilities, interacted with personnel, and praised their sacrifices in defending the nation despite daunting operational demands. He assured them of continued efforts to enhance both their welfare and operational capacity.

Highlighting his commitment to soldiers’ families, the CoAS disclosed ongoing investments to revamp barracks schools to ensure quality education for their children. He also ordered the immediate renovation of dilapidated accommodations to improve living standards for troops and their dependents.

General Oluyede emphasized that the Nigerian Army, under his leadership, remains dedicated to providing modern kits, uniforms, and improved welfare packages, including the recent increment in Ration Cash Allowance. These initiatives, he said, are designed to boost morale, strengthen operational readiness, and entrench his “Soldiers First” mantra.

He further charged the troops to uphold discipline, professionalism, and synergy with sister security agencies and host communities, stressing that collaboration is vital to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
