The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commended troops of the 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna, for their resilience, professionalism, and commitment in managing security challenges within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.
According to Acting Director, Army Public Relations Col. Appolonia Anele, General Shaibu gave the commendation on Thursday, 8 January 2026, during an operational visit to frontline locations under the Brigade, where he addressed officers and soldiers on ongoing operations.
The Army Chief assured the troops of improved welfare, stating that he had been fully briefed on their operational and welfare challenges, particularly in the areas of accommodation and critical facilities necessary for the wellbeing of personnel and their families. He urged the troops to sustain high standards of professionalism and to continue to uphold fundamental human rights in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Charter.
General Shaibu further charged the troops to remain firm, vigilant, and decisive in confronting terrorist elements operating around Shiroro, Rijau, and other parts of the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility. He also directed the construction and renovation of accommodation and other essential infrastructure to enhance morale and improve operational effectiveness.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to troop welfare and sustained security operations in affected areas.
