Major General Philips Eromosele, Commander Corps of Engineers (CCE), today conducted his first official visit to the Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army, at Port Harcourt Barracks. The visit marked a significant milestone in the ongoing infrastructural development within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
During the visit, Major General Eromosele met with the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, before proceeding to the 46 Engineer Brigade Counter Improvised Explosive Device Squadron to commission several projects. These included a state-of-the-art Training Area and Laboratory, 26 Support Engineer Regiment Training Sheds, and a newly constructed block of 10 one-bedroom apartments for personnel ranked Corporal and Below, built by the Headquarters 6 Division.
Addressing troops from the 46 Engineer Brigade, the CCE urged them to uphold the values of the Nigerian Army, remain patient with systemic challenges, and avoid all forms of illegal activities. He assured them that measures are being implemented to improve their welfare and operational capacity.
Lieutenant Colonel Usama Yakubu, Commanding Officer of the 26 Support Engineer Regiment, commended the leadership of the CCE and highlighted the importance of the newly commissioned ultra-modern 150-capacity training shed. Designed with office space for instructors and facilities for both male and female personnel, the shed aims to enhance the rigorous training of young officers and soldiers, preparing them for future operational challenges in both engineering and infantry roles.
The visit also featured a presentation on Improvised Explosive Device Management by Brigadier General Ekeoma Odoemele, Commander of the 46 Engineer Brigade, followed by an address to troops, a presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
This visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building capacity and enhancing the welfare of its personnel.
