The Federal High Court in Makurdi, Benue State, has ordered the forfeiture of N232.4 million, a hotel, and $4,977 to the federal government following the conviction of seven individuals for fraud-related crimes.

Justice M.S. Abubakar issued the ruling after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the convicts on charges of cybercrime, money laundering, and obtaining by false pretenses. The individuals—Tamaraudeinyefa Shedrack Brakekebebe, Godday Conference Brakekebebe, Terhemba Josiah Asagh, Nyiter Avalumun Elijah, Ahmed Alabi Akindele, Kennedy Torbem Ayanger, and Hwande Aondooungwa James—pleaded guilty and received various sentences, including imprisonment and fines.

Among the forfeited assets was the Century Crip Inn Hotel in Gboko, built with fraudulent proceeds. Other seized items included luxury vehicles and significant funds held in multiple bank accounts. Some convicts were also ordered to make financial restitution to their victims.

The EFCC’s Makurdi Zonal Directorate apprehended the fraudsters following credible intelligence on their illicit activities.
