The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has reaffirmed the need for a collective security approach during his familiarization visits to key stakeholders and military establishments in Rivers State from February 12–13, 2025.
In a statement Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma said during a meeting with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Major General Emekah emphasized the vital partnership between the NDDC and the Nigerian Army in promoting peace and development in the region. He commended the commission’s intervention projects benefiting military formations and assured continued security support to foster a conducive environment for growth.
The NDDC’s Managing Director, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, reiterated the commission’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with security agencies, acknowledging the link between peace and development.

The GOC also visited the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) and the Naval Shipyard Limited, where he discussed strategic cooperation with Rear Admiral Istifanus Albara and Rear Admiral Etop Ebe, respectively. He pledged the Nigerian Army’s support for naval operations and highlighted potential collaboration in gunboat procurement and maintenance.
In a meeting with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Major General Emekah and SPDC General Manager Bob Boss explored areas of mutual interest, particularly the fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
The GOC concluded his tour with a visit to 103 Battalion, Nigerian Army, at Harry’s Town, Degema, where he addressed soldiers on discipline, professionalism, and welfare priorities in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy.
