The Nigeria Customs Service’s PH Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Command has proudly announced a remarkable revenue collection exceeding ₦22 billion over the past 10 months. The impressive milestone was shared by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Abubakar Umar, during an announcement on November 21, 2023, held at the Nigeria Customs Service PH Oil and Gas FTZ Command in Marble House, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority Building, Onne, Rivers State.
Comptroller Umar revealed that as of November 20, 2023, the command’s total revenue stands at ₦22,413,619,459.00. This represents a substantial increase compared to the ₦21,219,846,074.00 collected between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, showcasing a notable growth of over 1 billion naira from the previous year.
Expressing optimism, the Customs Area Controller emphasized the command’s commitment to surpassing the annual revenue target before the close of 2023. “By the Grace of God, before December 31, 2023, we will surpass our annual target,” Comptroller Umar confidently stated.
The success of this achievement was attributed to the unwavering dedication and resilience of the Command’s officers and personnel, as well as the collaborative efforts of stakeholders. Comptroller Umar humbly acknowledged, “I cannot do it alone without the dedication and resilience of my officers, men, and our esteemed stakeholders.”
In highlighting key export accomplishments, Comptroller Umar pointed out the facilitation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exports at Bonny Terminal, the export of refined sugar in the Bundu Free Zone by Bua Sugar Refinery, and the exportation of fertilizer by Notore Chemical Free Zone.
The Customs Area Controller extended gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for their unwavering support. He pledged to intensify efforts aimed at eliminating revenue leakages within the command, ensuring sustained growth and success.
