The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced progress in its ongoing recruitment exercise, confirming that 286,697 candidates have been shortlisted for the next stage of screening.
According to a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Dr. Abdullahi Maiwada, the recruitment drive began with an advertisement in December 2024, declaring 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. The Service received 573,523 applications during the initial phase.
The next stage, a Computer-Based Test (CBT), will run from September 14 to 21, 2025. Candidates will take the test online from locations of their choice, provided they use a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and stable internet connection. The NCS stressed that the platform will not be mobile-enabled.
To ensure fairness and integrity, the CBT will feature facial verification at login, while excessive movement, background noise, or attempts to switch screens will result in disqualification. A mandatory pre-test session will be conducted two days prior to the examination to help candidates familiarise themselves with the system.
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also undergo an additional CBT in a subsequent phase of the exercise.
The NCS assured the public that the recruitment remains transparent and strictly merit-based. It cautioned candidates to follow only official communication channels, warning that the Service will neither demand payments nor conduct recruitment through social media.
