Dangote donates N2 billion to flood victims in Borno, calls for corporate support

The CEO of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has pledged N2 billion to aid victims of the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State. The donation includes N1 billion from the Presidential Committee on Flood and Disaster, chaired by Dangote, and an additional N1 billion from the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

Dangote made the announcement during a sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, highlighting the severity of the disaster. He called on corporate Nigeria to join in supporting the recovery efforts, stressing the scale of the damage and the need for collective action.

“We cannot rely on the government alone,” Dangote said, urging swift intervention to help those affected. “Many homes have been submerged, and it will take significant time and resources to restore normalcy.”

Governor Zulum expressed deep gratitude for Dangote’s support, acknowledging the businessman’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes in Nigeria.
