FG approves promotion of 20,867 officers in NIS, NSCDC, NCoS, FFS

The federal government has approved the promotion of 20,867 officers across four key agencies: the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on Friday, detailing the promotions, including special advancements for select officers. The promotions affected 5,329 officers in the NCoS, 5,112 in the NIS, 9,937 in the NSCDC, and 489 in the FFS.

In addition, special promotions were granted to two NCoS officers, four NIS officers, two NSCDC officers, and one FFS officer.

The promotions cover ranks from Inspector/Assistant Superintendent to Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants. Represented by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of Services, the minister also announced that the government approved new training curricula and career development courses for officers.

Tunji-Ojo added that the government will complete the 2023/24 recruitment exercise for the Federal Fire Service before the end of September.
