- APC media network appoints Shettima, Abbas, Barau as grand patrons
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin has underscored the vital role of the new media in fostering national unity and driving developmental progress. Speaking during a gathering with members of the Northern Nigeria APC Media Network at the Senate in Abuja, Senator Barau emphasized the significance of harnessing the potential of social media to advance unity and growth within the nation.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy President of the Senate urged social media influencers to direct their efforts towards advancing the country’s unity and advancement. He encouraged the members of the APC Media Network to persist in their endeavors to highlight the initiatives and policies of government entities at various levels.
Commending their ongoing contributions, Senator Barau expressed appreciation for the efforts of the media network and appealed for the expansion of their association’s membership across different regions of the country. He envisioned a scenario where individuals moving from one part of the nation to another would experience a sense of belonging and familiarity, promoting a cohesive national identity.
He articulated, “Your dedication is praiseworthy. Continue to amplify the positive endeavors undertaken by this administration to enhance the well-being of our citizens. While government-owned media platforms exist, the support of individuals like you is crucial in advocating for our initiatives.”
Senator Barau continued, “I encourage you to extend the reach of your association to encompass all corners of our nation. We aspire for a reality where a sense of belonging prevails, whether one is in Enugu, Kano, Zamfara, or anywhere else. This is our collective homeland, and it’s incumbent upon us all to champion unity and harmony.”
Earlier in the gathering, Bashir Yusuf Shuwaki, the Chairman of the media association, announced the appointment of Senator Barau I. Jibrin as the grand patron of the association. Shuwaki acknowledged the Deputy Senate President’s substantial contributions to the nation’s progress and development, making him a fitting choice for the distinguished role.
“In light of your remarkable contributions to our nation’s advancement, we are proud to designate you as the grand patron of our association. Our esteemed grand patrons now include the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy President of the Senate,” Shuwaki conveyed.
