Kwara Gov. praises KWASU engineers for successful gasoline-to-electric vehicle conversion

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has praised a group of engineers from Kwara State University (KWASU) for their successful conversion of a gasoline engine to an electric vehicle. During his inspection of the vehicle, the Governor hailed this achievement as exemplary innovation, highlighting its significance in steering our nation towards reduced reliance on fossil fuels and the adoption of cleaner energy sources. The timing of this innovation aligns perfectly with ongoing efforts by various government levels to alleviate challenges arising from the fuel subsidy removal.

The Governor expressed his commendation for the team of engineers led by KWASU’s Head of Technical Unit Center for Sustainable Energy, AbdulAzeez Akande, and also extended appreciation to Prof. Shaykh Lukman Jimoh, the Acting Vice Chancellor, who led the team’s visit to the Government House while traveling in the electric vehicle.

Assuring continuous support, Governor AbdulRazaq acknowledged the engineers’ dedication to improving quality of life through technology and determination. He enthusiastically announced that Kwara State is embracing the future and confirmed plans to convert several government vehicles to electric power for immediate use on campuses, benefiting the students and demonstrating the state’s commitment to progress.
