Developing: Troops strike Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds, kill top commander in Borno

In the early hours of Monday, June 9, 2025, troops of Operation Hadin Kai carried out a coordinated offensive against Boko Haram/Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) strongholds in Borno State. According to military sources, the simultaneous air and ground operations targeted militant enclaves in Nzalgana, Gujba Local Government Area, and the Tumbuktu Triangle, resulting in significant casualties among the terrorists and their leadership.

Notably, Ameer Malam Jidda, a notorious Boko Haram/ISWAP commander in Ngorgore and Malumti Villages, was neutralized during the attack. His death is considered a major blow to the group’s command structure in the region.

Meanwhile, in Abadam, troops conducting follow-up operations after the recent offensive in Mallamfatori recovered additional bodies of terrorists as well as caches of seized weapons and ammunition. This continued operation aims to dismantle Boko Haram/ISWAP networks and deny them freedom of movement in the Lake Chad region.

Military authorities have vowed to sustain the momentum of these operations to ensure the total defeat of the insurgents. The offensive remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
