Police neutralize 7 kidnappers, arrest 5 armed robbers in Delta and Kaduna

In a significant breakthrough against crime, the Nigeria Police Force has neutralized seven suspected kidnappers and arrested five suspected armed robbers in coordinated operations across Delta and Kaduna States.

In a statement Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the successful operations also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and five stolen vehicles.

On June 4, 2025, Delta State Police operatives, working alongside local vigilantes and anti-cult volunteers, engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun duel along the Abraka Railway axis. Four suspects were neutralized, and an AK-47 rifle with thirteen rounds of live ammunition was recovered.

The CP-Special Assignment Team of the Delta State Command also intercepted a shuttle bus along the Ughelli-Patani Road. After the occupants opened fire on the operatives, three kidnappers were neutralized. One AK-47 rifle loaded with eighteen rounds of ammunition was recovered. Preliminary investigations confirmed the group’s involvement in multiple kidnappings in the area.

In Kaduna State, police operatives arrested five suspected armed robbers linked to the theft of a Toyota Hilux vehicle stolen from the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja on May 28, 2025. The suspect, Mohammed Kabir, was apprehended after a high-speed chase near Zaria town. Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of additional stolen vehicles, including a Toyota Camry abandoned near the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, a Honda CR-V stolen from Abuja, and another Toyota Camry (1998 model) linked to suspects arrested for theft in Nasarawa State.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the swift response of officers, emphasizing the critical role of intelligence and community collaboration in maintaining public safety. He urged citizens to continue sharing information with security agencies to help combat crime effectively.
