EFCC arrests 26 suspected internet fraudsters in FCT, Cross River, Akwa Ibom

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 26 suspected internet fraudsters in separate sting operations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

In Abuja, operatives apprehended seven suspects on Thursday, June 19, in the Lifecamp and Kubwa areas, following credible intelligence linking them to cybercrime activities. Recovered items include eight luxury vehicles, laptops, and mobile phones.

On the same day, the EFCC’s Uyo Zonal Directorate arrested 13 suspects in Calabar, Cross River State, specifically at Atimbo and Lemna Trailer Park areas.

Earlier on Wednesday, June 11, six more suspects were arrested in Idoro, Akwa Ibom State, also for alleged involvement in internet fraud.

Across the three operations, the EFCC recovered three exotic cars, 31 mobile phones, and five laptops from the suspects.

All 26 individuals will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, the Commission said.
