Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested thirty-seven (37) individuals for suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.
The arrests were made on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during a coordinated sting operation codenamed Operation Eagle Sweep. The operation followed actionable intelligence received by the Commission on the activities of the suspects at various locations across the city.
Items recovered during the operation include a number of exotic vehicles, high-end smartphones, smartwatches, international passports, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards from multiple banks, and laptops containing incriminating documents and materials linked to fraudulent cyber activities.
The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
