EFCC arrests 64 suspected internet fraudsters in Osun

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, investigators from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made a significant breakthrough by apprehending sixty-four individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Osun State.

The arrests, which took place in Ede, Osun State, were facilitated by actionable intelligence that pointed to the suspicious activities of these individuals in their vicinity.

Upon the apprehension, law enforcement officials recovered a cache of items believed to be linked to their illicit activities. Among the seized items were 18 exotic vehicles, 18 laptops, 112 mobile phones, three PlayStation games, five motorcycles, and various other documents that potentially incriminate the suspects.

The EFCC has indicated that following the necessary investigations, the suspects will be formally charged in court. This move underscores the agency’s commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full force of the law.
