The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced the arrest of Dennis Baba Wdony, Wycliffe Midala, and Samuel Kayode Melaye on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. The trio is accused of posing as military officers and using the office of the Chief of Defence Staff to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public through bogus contract awards.
Investigations revealed that the suspects operate as a three-man syndicate, advertising fake bids for contracts supposedly issued by the Chief of Defence Staff’s office. Their apprehension followed numerous petitions submitted to the EFCC, detailing their fraudulent activities. In one notable case, a victim reported a loss of N21 million.
The EFCC stated that the suspects will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
