EFCC secures final forfeiture of Galaxy Hospital, N333m, petrol stations, and properties

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured a final forfeiture order from the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, covering Galaxy Hospital, five petrol stations, multiple residential and commercial properties across the Federal Capital Territory, Borno, Nasarawa, and Niger States, as well as cash totalling N333 million.

The ruling, delivered on Monday, July 14, 2025, by Justice Emeka Nwite, followed a motion filed by the EFCC pursuant to Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, in suit number FHC/ABJ/1058/2024.

The application, backed by a 36-paragraph affidavit deposed to by EFCC operative Tahiru Ahmed, sought the permanent forfeiture of assets suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities. The Commission had earlier obtained an interim forfeiture order on August 13, 2024, with a directive to publish the order in a national newspaper and on the EFCC website to invite any interested parties to show cause why the assets should not be forfeited.

Following the publication in The Punch on September 4, 2024, no claims were made, prompting the EFCC to request final forfeiture. EFCC counsel, Fadila Yusuf, urged the court to grant the application, citing full compliance with all legal requirements.
