The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has deployed more than 56,000 personnel across the country as part of heightened security measures for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, warning criminal elements against any attempt to disrupt public peace or attack critical infrastructure.
The nationwide operation, approved by the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, includes the mobilisation of tactical squads, operational vehicles, ambulances, boats and K9 units to ensure rapid response and the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, all specialised tactical formations were placed on red alert ahead of the festive period.
The units deployed for the operation include the Mining Marshals, Special Intelligence Squad, Crack Squad, Female Special Force and Rapid Response Squad, all of which have been tasked with intensified surveillance and enforcement duties nationwide.
According to the statement, the Commandant General directed Zonal Commanders to personally oversee field operations within their jurisdictions while working closely with State Commandants to ensure strict compliance with operational directives.
State Commandants were also instructed to supervise Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and outpost heads to guarantee effective implementation of the Corps’ security framework across all states of the federation.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to collaboration with other security agencies and urged citizens to provide timely and credible intelligence on suspicious activities that could threaten public safety during the Sallah period.
It further warned individuals and groups against acts of vandalism or any conduct capable of breaching public peace, stressing that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The NSCDC will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found disrupting public peace,” the statement warned.
