Ekiti Incident: IGP condemns killings and abductions, deploys additional resources

Inspector General of Police Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun strongly condemns the recent killing of two traditional rulers and the abduction of school pupils and teachers in Ekiti State.

In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in response, the IGP has deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Abiodun Asabi to Zone 17 Akure, along with additional personnel and assets, to address the security challenges in the region.

He said AIG Asabi is tasked with overseeing a comprehensive and coordinated security response to restore peace and order in Ekiti and parts of Ondo State.

The IGP extends his deepest condolences to the affected communities and assures the public that justice will be served.

Adejobi said preliminary investigations have led to the arrest of thirteen suspects, and the IGP emphasizes the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to bringing the perpetrators to book.

He urges the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with the Police and other security agencies during these efforts to restore peace and security to the affected areas.
