Fresh political tension has reportedly emerged in Orin Ora Ward of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, as residents and party stakeholders allegedly rejected the re-election ambition of Senator Cyril Fasuyi over claims of poor representation and lack of visible development projects.
The development is said to be generating growing debate within the Ekiti North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 political season, following allegations that the senator repeatedly blamed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the non-release of constituency project funds and budgetary allocations.
Residents and party loyalists in the ward were reportedly dissatisfied with the senator’s performance after nearly three years in office, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful projects, empowerment initiatives and other democratic dividends to the community.
Sources within the ward claimed frustrations deepened after recent political meetings where concerns were allegedly raised over the absence of federal projects and economic interventions in the area.
Some stakeholders reportedly argued that continued support could no longer be justified on the basis of what they described as “empty promises and excuses,” insisting that political leadership should be judged by measurable development and impact on the people.
“There is growing anger among party members and residents because people believe the senator has not justified the mandate given to him,” a source within the ward reportedly stated.
Political tension in the area was also said to have intensified following alleged attempts by some interests to secure an automatic endorsement for Senator Fasuyi ahead of the next election cycle.
However, influential figures within Orin Ora Ward reportedly resisted the move, insisting that no candidate should be imposed on the people against their collective will.
“There is no automatic endorsement here. Orin Ora Ward cannot be forced into supporting any candidate,” a party source reportedly declared during discussions surrounding the senator’s re-election bid.
Stakeholders also reportedly warned against alleged attempts to link the name of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to internal political arrangements aimed at rallying support for Senator Fasuyi.
According to them, the governor’s name should not be used to pressure party members or create the impression of an official endorsement where none had been granted.
“Stop using Governor Oyebanji’s name for political imposition. The people must be allowed to decide freely,” another stakeholder reportedly warned.
Residents further maintained that future political endorsements must be based on performance, grassroots consultation and public acceptance rather than political influence or pressure from powerful interests.
The disagreement is widely seen as part of emerging political realignments within parts of Ekiti North as politicians intensify underground mobilisations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Fasuyi had yet to officially respond to the allegations and rejection claims as of the time of filing this report.
