Enhanced Synergy: IGP visits ministry of police affairs, briefs new Ministers

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, paid a respectful visit to the Ministry of Police Affairs on August 31st, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to extend his congratulations to the newly appointed Ministers and provide them with a comprehensive overview of the country’s internal security situation. The emphasis was on fostering stronger collaboration to effectively address the evolving security challenges that our nation is currently confronting.

As conveyed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP, accompanied by members of the Force Management Team, engaged in constructive discussions with the Honourable Minister, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Minister of State, Hajia Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim. The discussions revolved around critical matters including the state of national security, ongoing reforms within the police force, and strategies to bolster cooperation between the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the Ministry of Police Affairs.

Recognizing the imperative of modernizing the NPF and advancing community-oriented policing initiatives, the Honourable Minister assured the IGP of the Ministry’s unwavering support in implementing key reforms and initiatives. Both Ministers acknowledged the crucial role played by the police in upholding law and order. They reaffirmed their commitment to providing essential resources, infrastructure, and training to enable the Force to proficiently carry out its responsibilities and safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerian citizens.

The IGP underscored that the visit underscored the undeniable necessity of collaborative endeavors to enhance the security architecture of the nation. He reiterated the significance of cultivating a conducive environment for police officers and called upon all stakeholders to rally behind the ongoing reform endeavors of the current administration.
