Troops of OP UDO KA stationed at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, near Aba metropolis in Abia State, were attacked and killed by terrorists from the IPOB/ESN.
Deployed to enforce peace and protect citizens, the troops faced a mass attack by terrorists in three tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and additional assailants from surrounding built-up areas.
The ambush resulted in the tragic deaths of five armed forces personnel. The military deeply mourns these losses, recognizing the profound impact of each fallen soldier. Investigations into the attack are currently ongoing.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the necessity of community support in combating terrorism. He asserted that the military would respond fiercely to this heinous act, promising overwhelming pressure to ensure the group’s total defeat.
