FG declares Tuesday public holiday for Independence Day celebration

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad, acknowledging their resilience and hard work. He praised the enduring spirit of the Nigerian people, emphasizing that their sacrifices will not go unrecognized.

Aligning with the anniversary’s theme, the Minister called on citizens to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s past heroes and to unite in building the nation. He noted that the realization of a prosperous Nigeria depends on collective effort and national unity.

As he wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day, Tunji-Ojo encouraged steadfastness and commitment to the ongoing process of nation-building.
