Notorious Boko Haram Terrorist Surrenders to MNJTF Troops

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist, identified as Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) stationed in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement Military Public Information Officer MNJTF HQ, N’Djamena, Chad Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said Bochu, a key player in several terrorist operations, confessed to being actively involved in Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks along the Monguno-Baga axis. He revealed that he surrendered due to the sustained pressure from MNJTF operations and his diminishing interest in the group’s activities. Bochu also disclosed that he fled a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram with his weapon.

Upon his surrender, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and ₦32,500. He is currently providing valuable intelligence to authorities.

Acting on intelligence about the terrorists’ crossing point, the troops engaged them in a fierce gun battle in Gubio. One terrorist was killed, while others fled into the forest, abandoning the logistics supply. Recovered items included three Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted foodstuffs and ₦2,000.
