The Federal Government of Nigeria has dismissed recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump alleging large-scale killings of Christians in the country and calling for Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the government said the claims do not reflect the reality on the ground, emphasizing that Nigerians of all faiths have long lived, worked, and worshipped together peacefully.
The statement reaffirmed that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria remains committed to combating terrorism, promoting interfaith harmony, and safeguarding the lives and rights of all citizens.
The Federal Government also reiterated its readiness to continue engaging constructively with the Government of the United States to enhance mutual understanding of regional security dynamics and Nigeria’s ongoing peace and stability efforts.
