Dr. Ishaq Salako, the Minister of State for Environment, has articulated a commitment to uphold environmental sustainability, underscoring the present government’s dedication to safeguarding the environment for both the current and forthcoming generations of Nigerians.
Salako made this assertion on Monday, shortly after assuming his responsibilities as the Minister of State for the Environment in Abuja. His assumption of office followed the inauguration of 45 Ministers by President Bola Tinubu.
Stressing the pivotal role of the environment in human nature and existence, Salako emphasized the imperative of ensuring environmental sustainability. He remarked, “It is our duty to ensure the prudent utilization of our environment,” further elucidating that environmental sustainability involves a conscious effort to conserve the environment for the sake of present and future generations.
He extended his commitment to collaborate harmoniously with the personnel of the Ministry of Environment, engage with all stakeholders, and work closely with the media to collectively make environmental responsibility a shared societal objective.
Ibrahim Yusufu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, assured the Minister of State of their dedicated cooperation, asserting, “We will collaborate diligently with you to ensure that the democratic dividends promised to Nigerians by this administration are actualized, particularly in relation to environmental matters.”
