Operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a successful operation resulting in the interception of 21 trucks laden with both food and non-food items en route to N’djamena, Chad Republic, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon.
The interception took place as part of a meticulously executed sting operation along major exit routes, specifically the Kalabiri/Gamboru Ngala and Bama roads in Borno State.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the trucks were transporting food items covertly concealed within their cargo, a scheme that would have evaded detection were it not for the vigilant surveillance of EFCC operatives.

Further scrutiny revealed that the Waybills accompanying the goods clearly stated the trucks’ intended destinations as N’djamena, Chad Republic, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon respectively.
The apprehension of these trucks is anticipated to curtail the exacerbation of food insecurity stemming from the illicit activities of smugglers operating across the nation.
The individuals apprehended alongside the trucks are currently undergoing profiling, and upon conclusion of investigations, they will be promptly brought before the courts to face charges.
